2011 Western Open

A great tradition, a wonderful community, a history of excellence!

UC Berkeley’s ‘Golden Bears’ Table Tennis club is our host organization and benefits from our tournament. We also benefit from this highly energetic and well-organized college club, who are outstanding in their support of the tournament, providing manpower, the playing hall and a fresh and enthusiastic spirit!

We make our home for the weekend at the Recreational Sports Facility on three full basketball courts in a clean, modern facility. This is where the Western Open Champion is crowned, under the watchful eye of International Referee Dr. Azmy Ibrahim and his first-rate crew of umpires.

We’ve made some meaningful tweaks to the prize money, with greater rewards to all the Open Singles Quarterfinalists and the U-2500 Single Elimination event. We also reduced the entry fees on the older Junior events and ‘held the line’ on the entry fees for the vast majority of the categories of play.

We always have a great time at the Western Open! We’re playing our favorite sport surrounded by some of our favorite people in one of the great cities of the world. It doesn’t get better than this!
