About The Tournament -
15th Anniversary 

2011 North American Teams15 Years of Unrivaled Success
This year the JOOLA North American Teams Table Tennis Championship is celebrating its 15th Anniversary and we're looking forward to commemorating this milestone with you! Organizing and running the largest competition in North America is no easy task, but your participation and continued support have been invaluable throughout the years. As a thank you to our loyal participants, we have prepared some gifts for our players! 

Strength in Numbers
Each year, over 200 teams enter the tournament, adding up to about 1,000 players in total. With such a grand turn out it's only appropriate that we match it with an equally spectacular venue. As a result, players spend three days competing on nearly 150 professional grade tables in a spacious hall of 150,000 square feet. The unique tournament format offers players a rare opportunity to play on a team, where they can coach and cheer for each other, and reconnect or meet different competitors.  We are particularly proud of the player diversity of the Teams, featuring competitors from five continents, multiple countries, and scores of US cities. 

More matches
During this three-day competition, we are confident that you will have the chance to play more matches than in any other tournament you have experienced. Last year, the average number of matches per player was approximately 20, making the event a premiere opportunity for match practice!

Competition Breakdown: On Friday, each team plays between two (2) and four (4) ties against other teams [each tie is the best of nine (9) matches and each match is the best of five (5) games!] in what we call 'Preliminary Group Play' or 'P-Groups'. Then, Friday's results are used to create 'Final Divisional Assignments' for Saturday and Sunday matches. Generally, participants will play an additional six (6) to eight (8) ties over those two days, so that by the end of the long weekend, all teams will have had at least 40 and as many as 108 matches! 

True test of ability
Based on the design of the tournament, most matches should be highly competitive. Friday's results will dictate the Final Division Assignments, where teams will be grouped with other teams similar in playing level. Although opponents may be taller or shorter, older or younger, be warned that they will likely be stiff competition. 

World-Class Table Tennis Up Close
The highest level of competition, the 'Elite Division', is where the tournament's best players will be competing for the big cash prizes. We've had Olympians, National Champions, world-ranked players, and even a World Champion or two out on the floor, playing in the same event you'll be in! The Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and championship matches are scheduled on Sunday to give as many of you as possible the chance to become spectators when 'the best meet the best'! Try to get there early to make sure you have a seat because it's not everyday that you get the opportunity to watch such high level play from such close proximity!

Make the Most of Your Visit
Our goal is to make the JOOLA North American Teams a regular stop on your calendar. Each year, we hope to improve your experience by offering more to do, more to see, more great matches, more old friends to visit, and more new friends to make.  At the playing hall, a licensed massage therapist will be on site to ease those aching muscles, and once again, food vendors have created an improved and expanded menu for your enjoyment. Aside from the convention center, our excellent tournament hotel has graciously worked with us to give our attendees more benefits as well. In particular, the 

official tournament hotel, the Hyatt, will be offering additional discounts and raffle prizes to our attendees (see last page)! Moreover, for those of you who want to explore the city, Baltimore's inviting Inner Harbor boasts famous restaurants, museums, shops, and other attractions!

August 1: One prize will be awarded to each of 25 winners, who will have first choice at the prizes. 

September 1: One prize will be awarded to each of 15 winners, who will have first choice at the remaining 25 prizes. Those who made reservations by August 1, but did not win, will be eligible for this round of prizes as well. However, they will receive an additional 4 entries, so that the ratio of entries for guests who made reservations by August 1 to guests who made reservations by September 1 will be 5 to 1.

October 1: One prize will be awarded to each of 10 winners, who will be able to claim the remaining 10 prizes. Tournament Details 

2011 JOOLA Teams Championships

Teams Information

Please create a team name of less than 30 printable characters. Teams with an average rating over 2400 must select a name that represents a sponsor or place/region of origin. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to change, without notice, any team names that are deemed inappropriate. A team consists of 3-5 players. Each tie will be 5 out of 9 matches except for Division A Semis and Finals. Each match will be 3 out of 5 games to 11. Most recent player ratings will be used and seeding will be based on average of the top 3 players in a team. The tournament committee reserves the right to use ITTF world rankings to determine the top seeded teams. The Maximum Spread in rating between the  highest rated player on a squad and the team's overall qualifying rating is capped:

0-1200 500 points

1201-1999 400 points

2000-2199 300 points

2200+ 250 points

In a four person team, the qualifying rating is calculated by taking the average of the 3 lower players. In a five person team, the qualifying rating is calculated by taking the average of the middle 3 players. For example, if a team has a qualifying rating of 1475, they cannot have a player that is rated higher than 1875 on their team. Another example would be if a team has a qualifying rating of 2035, then they cannot have a player that is higher than 2335 on their team. Tournament Committee reserves the right to adjust these limits where necessary. Ratings from October 7th will be used for these calculations. Most recent ratings will be used for seeding purposes. The tournament committee will reserve the right to change the seeding of this team if this player will only play in Friday's preliminary rounds. A false accounting will subject the team to disqualification from any prizes.**Boosting your team's rating by using other players' rating who will not be attending the tournament will be subject to disqualification and fine.** **No prizes will be awarded for splits, dumps, default losses or no-shows. **

Divisions

If your team is eligible for the prizes offered for Women's, U-18 Boys' or Girls', or O-40 Seniors' teams, please circle the appropriate team type. To Qualify, all the teammates must meet the category's criteria! The age cut-off date is November 28, 2012 for juniors, December 31, 2012 for seniors. All teams will be placed into one draw and divisional prize money as stated will be given to the team with the highest finish in the tournament for that particular division. 

Equipment

All USATT and ITTF rules and regulations will be followed. JOOLA tables & net sets will be used with JOOLA orange 40mm three-star balls. No competitor shall wear yellow or orange shirts or shorts/skirts during play.

Checkin

Check-in starts Thursday at 4:00 PM on the 3rd floor of the Baltimore Convention Center and continues until 7PM that night. On Friday, check-ins resume at 7:30 AM. All teams must check in before being cleared to play. All team entry fees and membership dues must be paid in full before check-in will be allowed. In addition to the teams check-in where your Team Captain reports and picks up all the team T-shirts, an individual check-in allows each player to pick up their own entry passes. 

Proof of Membership

All participants must be able to show proof of current membership for USATT, or ITTF member association. If not, USATT membership must be purchased at Tournament Registration. USATT One-Time Tournament Passes will only be accepted for first time members.

Entry Deadline

Entries must be postmarked by Friday, October 26, 2012. Any late entries will be accepted on a space available basis with a $100 late fee. If an entry is submitted late, please call to confirm that it was received and accepted. There is a $75 penalty for returned checks. NO REFUNDS after October 26, 2012.

Security & Spectator Passes

All persons entering the venue must obtain an entry pass. Players will receive a pass when they check-in for registration. Each player must check-in individually and the team captain must check-in for their team at the registration desk. Spectators, family, and friends can either pre-purchase a pass on this entry form for $20 per person for the entire duration of the tournament or purchase a pass on site for $20. For lost passes for all entrants, a replacement must be purchased.

Tournament T-Shirts & Programs

Tournament T-shirt and Program will include all team names sent in postmarked by October 26, 2012. T-shirts will be provided to each participant at team check-in. Extra T-shirts will be available for purchase at the tournament and come in sizes Small to 3X-Large for $20 each.

All U.S. prize money winners are required to provide Social Security numbers. International prize money winners are required to provide Passport/ VISA.
